Systems, layer by layer.

I started out in medicine. A decade ago I traded the bedside for data: a PhD in computational genomics at Erasmus University that meant building pipelines to chew through multi-terabyte datasets. Research taught me rigour; the pipelines taught me engineering — and I never looked back.

Since then I've built ML/backend systems at developers.nl, and spent six years at Gemvision with end-to-end ownership of the data platform and infrastructure: an MLOps platform for ML model development/deployment, ETL pipelines processing 1M+ records a year, zero-downtime deployments on AKS, and ISO 27001 + NEN 7510 certification done the hard way.

Today I'm Chief Data Officer at Swoep, building the AI infrastructure from the ground up: LLM agents, MCP servers, CI/CD for LLM applications, and the platform migrations that keep it all fast and affordable. Together with the information security officer, I set up and ran the ISMS that took us to a successful ISO 27001 certification.

As a dedicated lifelong learner and early adopter of emerging technologies, I have closely tracked the AI/LLM revolution since its onset in 2022 and actively integrate these tools into my daily workflows. Recognizing that powerful LLMs are reshaping professional roles, I maintain a strategic, big-picture perspective while retaining the agility to dive deep into technical details when execution demands it.
